Sliders UK reports sustained growth on the back of investment

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has reported sustained growth recording record year-on-year growth of as much as 45%, driven by demand for aluminium and growth in sales of composite doors.

According to the door specialist the average weekly increase in sales for the year to date has been around the 33% mark, also recording a number of record highs, with weekly year-on-year growth in excess of 45%.

“To have achieved average year-on-year growth of 33% so far in 2018 is a significant achievement in what remains a competitive and challenging market”, says Steve Mines, Sales and Marketing Director, Sliders UK.

“That doesn’t mean we have always hit growth targets each and every week, and there have certainly been one or two weeks where, as sales director I’ve been biting my nails looking for those late Friday afternoon orders.

“But averaged out over the year, we’re on a very positive growth trajectory, with our aluminium portfolio and composite door ranges driving sustained and increased sales.”

Growth coincides with major investment by Sliders UK in  its infrastructure and manufacturing capability. This includes the launch of a new night shift, boosting production capacity on aluminium bi-folding, French and sliding door lines, plus its composite door line by 60%.

Sliders UK is able to supply composite doors in any RAL colour

The specialist door manufacturer has also launched a new in-house spray painting facility, increasing flexibility of finish and shortening lead times on special order composite door colours.

The purpose built facility, gives Sliders UK the flexibility to offer composite doors in any RAL colour. These are sprayed in high performance and environmentally friendly, solvent-free water-based paints and come with a full 10-year guarantee.

“The demand we have seen for our new composite door offer has been exceptional”, said Mines. “It’s Part Q approved, including PAS24 cut-through testing, while we have underwritten it with some of the most stringent performance guarantees.

“This includes a 3mm bowing tolerance, compared to 6mm and even 8mm tolerances on other composites.

“With our in-house spray painting capability and rapid turnaround on special colour orders, it’s a very competitive offer, which is delivering commercial advantage to our customers.

“Alongside the Ultimate Evolution bi-fold, and ALUK bifold and inline sliding door, which give us a strong presence in aluminium, in addition to our PVC-U bifold and inline sliding ranges from Duraflex and Eurocell, we’re able to bring a very flexible product and service offer to market.”

Sliders UK launches new in-house composite door spray painting facility

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has launched a new in-house spray painting facility, increasing flexibility of finish and shortening lead times on special order composite door colours.

Now fully operational, the new purpose built facility, gives Sliders UK the flexibility offer composite doors in any RAL colour.

These are sprayed in high performance and environmentally friendly, solvent-free water-based paints and come with a full 10-year guarantee.

Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK, said that bringing painting in-house gave it control of the complete manufacturing process.

He said: “If you’re sending work outside you’re reliant on your suppliers and where your job sits in the queue.

“In bringing spray painting in-house we gain far greater control, reduce transit and can offer greatly improved lead times to our customers.

“We can literally do anything they want, so we’re also introducing far more flexibility into our composite door offer.”

Sliders UK launched its new PAS24 and Part Q approved ‘intelligent timber’ Ultimate Composite Door early this year.

Among the UK’s most secure doors, its manufactured using a new leaf which features 15mm thick LVL timber inserts. Intelligently encased inside a foam core and durable GRP skin, these provide additional core strength without impacting on thermal efficiency.

Sliders UK can offer any RAL colour on rapid lead times

This combination means that it not only achieves U-values of as low as1.0Wm2.K, but has also been independently tested to PAS24:2016 – including cut-through testing.

Security is further enhanced through Capstone’s patented three stage glazing cassette system, which supports easy replacement of glass but maximizes security.

The use of timber inserts means that the Ultimate Composite Door is also supplied with an industry leading maximum bowing tolerance of just 3mm.

It’s also available with a choice of Eurocell or Duraflex framing options which are available as standard in white and woodgrain foils but can also be colour-matched to the door.

Mines continued: “40% of the doors that we supply are now custom-colour. That’s something that we only expect to increase. We see the flexibility to supply any colour on shorter lead times as a key commercial advantage to our customers.”

The investment made by Sliders UK in its new painting facility follows the 10,000 sq ft extension of its factory, which was completed at the end of 2016. Sliders UK is also in the process of building a new powder coating facility, which is scheduled for completion at the beginning of the autumn.

“Things are very competitive out there and while we need the right products, we also need to offer our customers a corresponding level of service. Shorter lead times and increased reliability in composite door supply is something which we expect to strike a chord with our customers and in turn, theirs’.”

Sliders UK boosts manufacturing capacity by 60%

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has launched a second shift, boosting its overall manufacturing capacity by 60%.

The new night shift creates new manufacturing capacity on the specialist fabricator’s aluminium bi-folding, French and sliding door lines, plus its composite door line.

Part of a continuing programme of investment since a management buy in in April 2017, the launch of the new shift also creates 11 new jobs, including a new night shift production manager post.

Alex Murphy, Managing Director, Sliders UK, said: “We’ve seen significant growth in demand for aluminium product and for our composite door range and we believe that that’s going to continue going forward.

“As part of our long term planning strategy, we have consequently taken the decision to create a new night shift to prep product for manufacture the following day.

“This has delivered a significant up-lift in our manufacturing capability, with new in aluminium and composite door lines. Overall that accounts for an increase of around 60%, when applied to what we do in total.

“We don’t necessarily need all of that additional capacity now, it’s much more about guaranteeing sustainable and long term growth, while under-writing our product quality and customer service levels.”

All composite doors supplied by Sliders UK go through a rigorous protection process before shipment

Sliders UK has reported consistent month-on-month growth throughout 2018, topping at 45% year-on-year growth in June this year.

It follows the expansion of its aluminium offer last year, including the addition of the Ultimate Evolution aluminium bi-folding door. This features a highly innovative fully adjustable jamb option, which fitted to both sides of the door, makes squaring and setting faster – cutting installation time to as little as 45 minutes.

The consequential popularity of the Ultimate Evolution with installers, means that it now accounts for sales of more than 100 frames per week.

With a maximum sash height and width of 3000mm x 1200mm, colour-matched handles and magnetic door holders, a low threshold option and 30mm polyamide thermal break for increased thermal values, it is also fully tested to PAS 2, Part Q approved and BS6375 Part 1 Weather Tested.

Sliders UK has followed the launch of the Ultimate Evolution with the addition of an aluminium window, manufactured in ALUK’s proven 70mm Optio system, and the launch of the launch of ALUK’s BSC94 aluminium inline sliding door, alongside the established ALUK BSF70 bi-fold door.

Sliders UK introduced its new composite door offer in April this year. PAS24 and Part Q approved, this uses ‘intelligent timber’ inserts encased inside a foam core and durable GRP skin, to provide additional core strength without impacting on thermal efficiency.

This system is also highly resistant to warping, bowing and twisting, which means that the Ultimate Composite Door is supplied with an industry leading bowing tolerance of just 3mm.

Murphy continued: “Product development has been a key element of our growth strategy. We’ve added a number of products to our range in the last year, which deliver a series of distinct advantages to our customers, including installation efficiencies, commercial opportunities and far better through-life performance.

“The introduction of a second shift and the continuing investment that we’re making in our infrastructure means that that product development is being delivered alongside continuing improvements in quality and flexibility of service.”

Indian Tiger

By | Press releases

An industry backed school’s rugby programme, developed to offer opportunity to children living in some of India’s most deprived districts, has formed a new partnership with Leicester Tigers.

Sliders UK began its support for the Delhi Hurricanes School Rugby Development Programme in 2016. This is built on a model first pioneered in the UK by the Atlas Foundation which promotes discipline and team working through the sport.

Alex Murphy, Sliders UK’s Managing Director and former London Irish loose-head prop, coaches as part of the scheme.

He explained: “The Delhi Hurricanes School Rugby Development Programme has seen massive growth. This year’s festival was attended by 700 children from Delhi, Chennai and Calcutta – that’s 200 more than last year.

“The programme is really about outreach to some of India’s poorest communities, giving children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage in sport the chance to do so, while encouraging their learning and academic achievement through teamwork.”

Sliders UK’s Alex Murphy (centre left) and former England loose-head prop Jason Leonard (centre right), founder of the Atlas foundation with children from the Delhi Hurricanes School Rugby Development Programme

The Atlas foundation was set up by 114 England Cap loose-head prop Jason Leonard, to provide a link between businesses looking to make a contribution as part of their CSR strategies and grassroots rugby worldwide as a funding organization.

He was on hand this summer as part of the coaching team, joined by Leicester Tigers Vice President of Global Partnerships,  Scott Clarke who attended as part of a new partnership between the Premiership Club and the Delhi Hurricanes School Rugby Development Programme.

Murphy first formed links with the Delhi Hurricanes during his time as Business Head of Fenesta Building Systems. India’s largest PVC-U window manufacturer the company is part of the chemicals giant, DCM Shriram.

Sliders UK’s continuing sponsorship of the scheme helps to finance three full-time coaching posts in Delhi, in partnership with  funding from the Atlas Foundation.

“The experience of going out and coaching these children is always incredible because you can see what it does for them and how much they grow.

“As a business we’re delighted to be able to continue our support for the programme, which is making a genuine difference to the lives of young people living in some of India’s poorest communities.”

Ultimate Evolution aluminium bi-fold sales top 100 frames per week

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has reported that sales of the Ultimate Evolution have gone from a standing start to an average of 100 frames per week in less than two-years.

Added to its range alongside it’s established ALUK offer  at the tail-end of 2016, the Ultimate Evolution aluminium bi-fold is now Sliders UK’s biggest selling aluminium bi-fold.

It features a highly innovative fully adjustable jamb option, which fitted to both sides of the door, makes squaring and setting faster – cutting installation time to as little as 45 minutes.

Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK, said:  “What you get with the Ultimate Evolution are some very slim sightlines combined with considered and well thought-out hardware, which make it a very strong retail proposition.

“The other reason that we have seen the exceptional take-up that we have is the efficiency it delivers in installation with the adjustable jamb option that really sets it apart. This deals with imperfections in brick work, making it much easier to align the door correctly.

“We have customers fitting the Ultimate Evolution in as little as 45 minutes. The benefit is twofold: it saves time on site; but in making it easier to get the door square, it runs better, almost eliminating call backs.”

All of our bi-folds go through rigorous quality checks before being protected for dispatch

The Ultimate Evolution bi-fold, is available in multiple panel configurations including open-in or open-out, with a maximum sash height and width of 3000mm x 1200mm.

With colour-matched handles and magnetic door holders, a low threshold option and 30mm polyamide thermal break for increased thermal values, it is also fully tested to PAS 24 and BS6375 Part 1 Weather Testing.

Increasing demand for the Ultimate Evolution has contributed to Sliders UK’s sustained growth since it’s management buy-in in April 2017. This set the door specialist on a course which has seen it significantly expand its offer.

This has included the addition of a new aluminium inline sliding patio door, manufactured in ALUK’s BSC94 system and the new Ultimate Aluminium window.

Manufactured in ALUK’s proven 70mm Optio System, this achieves u-values as low as 1.2W/m2K.  It’s also fully tested to PAS24 and is Part Q compliant.

“Aluminium is an increasingly important part of our offer”, said Mines. He continued: “We also continue to supply the Duraflex sliding and bi-folding door and Eurocell Aspect, alongside our new composite door offer from Capstone.”

The expansion of its offer and the growth seen in sales of the Ultimate Evolution saw Sliders UK post year-on-year growth of 34% in May.

“It’s a big achievement that we are where we are in a market which got off to a fairly slow start at the beginning of the year. That’s down to a collective hard work that we have put in to develop our product and service offer and most significantly the continuing support and loyalty of our customers.”

Aluminium the foundation of sustained growth

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has sales grow by 34% year-on-year in May, with demand for aluminium products driving increased volume.

The announcement comes a year-on from a management buy-in and launch of a new growth strategy, which has been underpinned by a series of new product launches.

Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK, said: “We’ve been manufacturing the ALUK bi-fold for approaching a decade and introduced a second aluminium bi-fold, the Ultimate Evolution in 2016.

All of our bi-folds go through rigorous quality checks before being protected for dispatch

“Demand for those products has simply snowballed in the last 24-months. That drove the expansion of our aluminium offer last year and continues to inform our strategy for this year, with the further expansion of our range to offer a complete collection of aluminium products.”

The Ultimate Evolution has been a key addition to Sliders UK’s offer. It features a highly innovative fully adjustable jamb option, which fitted to both sides of the door, makes squaring and setting faster – cutting installation time to as little as 45 minutes.

Its consequential popularity with installers means that it now accounts for sales of more than 100 frames per week.

Another significant development in the last six-months has been Sliders UK’s launch of an aluminium window.

Manufactured in ALUK’s proven 70mm Optio system, the Ultimate Aluminium Window is defined by clean and flexible sightlines, making it suitable for traditional and contemporary applications.

It accommodates double and triple-glazed insulated units of 24mm to 40mm, employing a unique polyamide thermal break design to achieve u-values as low as 1.2W/m2K.  It’s also fully tested to PAS24 and is part Q compliant.

Available in white or anthracite grey as standard, plus dual colour options and any RAL colour as special order, the Ultimate Aluminium Window comes in a range of fully anodized finishes, also carrying a 10-year guarantee.

“We’ve seen an opportunity to add value to our customer offer”, said Mines. “We had numerous customers asking for them because they couldn’t get the quality and reliability elsewhere.

“If you’re doing an orangery or an extension ordering in a handful of windows with your bi-fold order makes a lot sense.”

Sliders UK has also added ALUK’s new Veranda to its range. The contemporary modular system has been designed to make installation easy, while generating high margin opportunities.

“It’s not just about aluminium. We’ve launched a new composite door offer this year in the Ultimate Composite Door, which features intelligent timber inserts, so it achieves PAS24 including cut through-testing.

“Ultimately it’s about trying to extract additional value from what we do for our customers. We’re committed to offering the highest levels of service. That goes beyond OTIF to wider support including first-time assisted fit. All of this taken as a whole and we have something which is very competitive.”

Sliders UK launches new ‘intelligent-timber’ composite door

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has launched its new PAS24 and Part Q approved ‘intelligent timber’ Ultimate Composite Door

Among the UK’s most secure doors, its manufactured using the new Capstone leaf which features 15mm thick LVL timber inserts.

The use of ‘intelligent timber’ inserts means the Ultimate Collection has gained Part Q approval including passing cut-through testing

Intelligently encased inside a foam core and durable GRP skin, these provide additional core strength without impacting on thermal efficiency.

This combination means that it not only achieves U-values of as low as 1.0Wm2.K, but has also been independently tested to PAS24:2016 – including cut-through testing.

Security is further enhanced through Capstone’s patented three stage glazing cassette system, which supports easy replacement of glass but maximizes security.

Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK said: “Security is always a major driver in entrance door retail and this is among most secure doors on the market.

“The major positive for the trade is that the way timber is used in the door not only makes it more resistant to attack – so that it’s Part Q approved – but encased in foam and GRP, there’s no chance of water ingress or warping.  It also delivers great thermal performance.”

This technically advanced combination of  timber inserts and thermally insulating foam also significantly reduces bowing, which means that the Ultimate Composite Door is supplied by Sliders UK with just a 3mm bowing tolerance.

“Bowing can cause a stack of problems and call-outs impacting on weather sealing and locking. With a 3mm tolerance, compared to the 5mm and 7mm tolerances of competitor systems, we’re underwriting through-life performance.”, continued Steve.

Door furniture and hardware is Trojan, while standard hinges and locks are manufactured by Ingenious, with heritage and auto-locking options from Winkhaus.  Door cylinders are six-pin anti-drill and pick as standard with the UKAS accredited 3-star BSI TS007 tested Ingenious cylinder, also available as an upgrade option.

Glass options include a choice of double or triple-glazed options, achieving U-Values as low as 1.0Wm2.K including laminated and toughened options.

Available in lead times of 5-days or less, standard colours are black, red, blue, green, Gold Oak and Rosewood, while a range of premium finishes are also available.

This is combined with a choice of standard or colour matched, fully reinforced Duraflex and Eurocell 70mm PVC-U outer frames and slim, low line aluminium thresholds with twin seals. Both Duraflex and Eurocell framed doors have been tested to PAS24:2016.

Ultimate Collection Doors are supplied with a choice of Duraflex and Eurocell framing options

Mines continues: “The technical advantages delivered by the new Capstone leaf – most significantly PAS24 approval – are major benefits.

“It’s highly competitive but the performance that it delivers, choice of colour and finishing options, means it can be sold against any door in the upper end. It’s really flexible and delivers a lot of very strong USPs.”

Palmer suggests that composite doors now account for 50% of the entrance door market, the share rising to 54% by installed value with the inclusion of PVC/ABS faced doors.

The Market for Domestic Entrance Doors 2017 edition also forecasts a 22% increase in composite door sales through to 2020.

Sliders UK unveils new ALUK Aluminium Inline Sliding Door

By | Press releases

Sliders UK has continued the expansion of its aluminium offer with the launch of ALUK’s BSC94 aluminium inline sliding door.

Available in mono, dual or tri rail options, the Ultimate Aluminium Inline Sliding Door delivers flexible design options combined with slim sightlines and advanced technical performance. This includes PAS 24 certification and Part Q approval.

Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK, said: “It’s a great looking door and it’s got huge retail and commercial potential. The BSC94 delivers great sightlines, it has a very smooth operating mechanism and what it of course gives you, is that uninterrupted view.

“The demand for it is proven and we believe it’s going to generate major opportunities for installers.”

Available in a choice of anodized single or dual colour options, the BSC94 is also available from Sliders UK in an ultra slim sightline 45mm system.

The Ultimate Inline Sliding Door combines the structural integrity of aluminium with stunning sight lines

Accommodating triple-glazed units, the BSC94 also delivers u-values as low as 1.5W/m2K; a Class 4 air tightness rating (600PA), a Class 7A (300pa) water tightness rating and C4 wind load rating of 1600PA.

“We’re selling the BSC94 as the Ultimate Aluminium Inline Sliding Door. It delivers great aesthetics, its simple to fit, there’s not a lot of adjustment involved or things to go wrong”, said Mines. He continued: “This makes it a higher margin fit and sell, while the sightlines give Ultimate Aluminium Inline Sliding Door masses of end user appeal.”

The launch of the Ultimate Aluminium Inline Sliding Door, comes as part of a major programme of investment in its aluminium offer by Sliders UK.

This includes the launch last year of its new Ultimate Residential Aluminum Window, which manufactured in ALUK’s proven 70mm Optio system, features flexible and clean sightlines, making it suitable for traditional and contemporary applications.

It also offers two aluminium bi-folding door systems, including the Ultimate Evolution easy-adjust and fit bi-fold, a lantern roof and the new ALUK Luminia Veranda.

According to the The Window, Door and Conservatory Markets in Housing in Great Britain, by Palmer, aluminium saw 24% growth in the last year, including 26% growth in volume terms and installed value by 28% in sales of aluminium windows.

Aluminium window growth in home improvement

By | Analysis

Aluminium windows are seeing significant commercial growth but are also making inroads into the home improvement sector.

Higher priced – and ultimately better products – are setting the defining trends within the UK window and door industry.

This has included the reinvention of PVC-U. Foils, flush casements, mechanical jointing and timber-type welds, providing the foundation for a new end-user offer.

It’s something which contributed to a 7% increase in installed values in 2016 – up to £4.5bn according to the latest Palmer report, at a time when the market grew by only 1% in volume.

And it’s been accompanied by the rapid growth seen in demand for another higher margin offer – bi-fold doors.

According to The Window, Door and Conservatory Markets in Housing in Great Britain 2017, sales of bi-folding doors were up 9.3% to 42,700 door-sets and an installed value topping £102million. Of these 59% were aluminium.

Aluminium windows are also assuming their place amongst a new generation of higher-value and higher margin products.

“There is a logical connection between increased sales and growing end-user demand for aluminium bi-fold doors and the resurgence being seen in sales of aluminium windows”, says Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK.

“The houseful of aluminium windows are out there but the market is by definition narrower because of price point – it’s a larger investment.

“Where we see the Ultimate Aluminium Window sitting is in the home improvement market.  The specification of a handful of windows as part of an extension or orangery installation to match-in with a set of bi-folding doors, is a much more affordable and therefore, accessible proposition.

“What it remains is a high value and higher margin opportunity for our customers.”

Manufactured in ALUK’s proven 70mm Optio system, the new Ultimate Aluminium Window from Sliders UK is defined by clean and flexible sightlines, making it suitable for traditional and contemporary applications.

It accommodates double and triple-glazed insulated units of 24mm to 40mm, employing a unique polyamide thermal break design to achieve u-values as low as 1.2W/m2K.  It’s also fully tested to PAS24 and is part Q compliant.

Available in white or anthracite grey as standard, plus dual colour options and any RAL colour as special order, the Ultimate Aluminium Window comes in a range of fully anodised finishes, also carrying a 10-year guarantee.

FACTBOX: The Ultimate Aluminium Window

  • Slim sightlines and highly flexible design options
  • Ultra-secure multi-point locking
  • PAS24 and Part Q (Building Regulations Security) approved
  • Advanced thermal performance with triple-glazed options andU-vlaues as low as 1.2 W/m2K
  • Enhanced weather performance including testing to hurricane force winds
  • Available in white or anthracite grey as standard, plus dual colour options and any RAL colour as special order
  • Child safety and restrictor hinges available
  • Green Guide (material sustainability) ‘A’ rating
  • 10-year guarantee

“We have developed a very transparent proposition”, says Mines. “The Ultimate Aluminium Window is being sold off list price, so there aren’t the fluctuations that you get from some suppliers depending on how busy they are.

“The price is the price, less your standard discount. It makes things cleaner and more straightforward for installers.”

The launch of the Ultimate Aluminium Window by Sliders UK, gives it a second aluminum window system having launched the Ultimate EVO XT at the end of summer 2017.

Available in multiple sash options, accommodating double and triple-glazed insulated units of up to 48mm the EVO XT achieves u-Values as low as 0.85 W/m2K. In common with its new ALUK offer, it’s also fully tested to PAS24 and is part Q compliant.

This neatly lines up the specialist manufacturer – and most importantly, it’s customers – to take advantage of the growth being seen in sales of aluminium windows.

According Palmer, in the last year, this included 26% growth in volume terms and installed value by 28%. The authors of the report attributing this to a combination of demand from high density urban development and growing end user demand.

But it’s the fit with its core proposition which Mines argues, is of greatest benefit to its customers.  This includes its established ALUK and Ultimate Evolution bi-folds.

Each is Part Q and PAS24 accredited, the ALUK bi-fold featuring concealed running gear, heavy-duty rollers and stainless steel tracks and multiple opening options, Sliders UK’s established offer.

The Ultimate Evolution aluminium bi-fold draws on innovation in hardware, combining a ultra-smooth bottom running system with impressively slim sightlines and an innovative fully adjustable jamb option. This dramatically simplifies door squaring and setting.

“The Ultimate Aluminium Window is by default a perfect match to the our established ALUK bi-fold offer”, continues Mines. “We also offer an aluminium lantern roof, so with the Ultimate Evolution bi-fold, we can offer our customers access to a pretty comprehensive aluminium portfolio.

“There’s a logical fit. We have the aluminum lines in place and significant expertise in the manufacture of aluminium products.

“The fit is also there with our customers’ offer. Bi-folds are normally ordered as part of a bigger project, so being able to fulfill that on a single order and single delivery to site, simplifies things significantly.”

“The market is there, it delivers high margins and we can support our customers in winning business through a highly flexible offer.”

Forecasts for aluminium windows and doors in the UK 2018

By | Analysis

Its reference in the Periodic Table is AL, its atomic number is 13 and it’s the third most abundant element after Oxygen and Silicon. And it’s also the third most ‘abundant’ material in the UK window and door industry – and forecast to become more so across retail, new build and commercial markets.

According to the The Window, Door and Conservatory Markets in Housing in Great Britain, by Palmer, aluminium saw 24% growth in the last year, including 26% growth in volume terms and installed value by 28% in sales of aluminium windows.

Going forward forecasts suggest it will remain one of the key drivers of growth for the UK window and door industry. It’s dominance in the bi-fold door market – accounting for 59% of market share in 2016 – is also tipped for continuing growth.

“What we have in aluminium bi-fold doors is a very happy convergence of a product type, which has really captured the imagination of the end-user and a material type, that is also seen by them as having an architectural quality and carries an aspirational appeal”, says Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK.

“The net effect is aluminium bi-fold doors are a major growth area.”

Sliders UK, has a highly flexible aluminium bi-fold offer. This includes its established ALUK bi-fold and the Ultimate Evolution.

It’s ALUK bi-fold is available in two to seven panel configurations, is Part Q and PAS24 accredited, and features concealed running gear, heavy-duty rollers and stainless steel tracks and multiple opening options.

Maximum height and width is 2500mm X 7000mm, while maximum individual panel width is 1200m and a maximum weight 100kg, giving it a high degree of structural flexibility. U-values are as low as 1.4w/m2K, while it’s also severe weather rated BS6375 -1:2009, Water 600PA. Air 600PA and Wind pressure of 1800 PA.

It’s available in white gloss, anthracite grey matt, and semi-gloss graphite black as standard colours, while all hardware and frames are guaranteed for 10 years.

“The ALUK door typifies that architectural aesthetic aluminium delivers and which has created incredible end user appeal”, continues Mines.

“PVC-U products continue to have significant reach. The price point will be more palatable to a lot of homeowners and innovation in foiling technologies has moved the appeal of the PVC-U bi-fold but aluminium remains dominant in the bi-fold door market”, he says.

The Ultimate Evolution bi-fold simplifies door squaring and setting using two full adjustable jambs.

Sliders UK, which completed a an MBO earlier this year,  launched the Ultimate Evolution aluminium bi-fold door last summer. It draws on innovation in hardware, combining a ultra-smooth bottom running system with impressively slim sightlines – even compared to other aluminium systems.

This may give it end-user appeal, but it’s an innovative fully adjustable jamb option which dramatically simplifies door squaring and setting and increases tolerances, which is perhaps the biggest single innovation. An easy-adjustment system delivering up to 8mm of tolerance, making if far simpler to align the door even where apertures are out of square.

Mines continues: “The Ultimate Evolution, offered our customers something that is different again and with that the new opportunities that go with it.

“Aluminium systems in general are unforgiving, leaving little room for maneuver in installation. The Ultimate Evolution, far greater flexibility, accommodating imperfections in brick-work making it easier to set the door, cutting installation times to as little as 45-minutes.”

While PVC-U outperformed market forecasts last year, projections from Palmer going forward for PVC-U as a material type are less favourable.

Mines, however, remains sanguine about the place PVC-U bi-folds can hold in the market. “The Ultimate Aspect, built around the Eurocell system demonstrate what is being delivered in new generation PVC-U technology.”

This includes two to seven panel configuration Part Q and PAS24 – but most significantly U-values as low as 0.94Wm2/K.

Thermal performance combined with a competitive price point compared to aluminium systems, giving the Ultimate Aspect appeal and particularly so in new build markets “The slim contemporary sightlines echo those of an aluminium systems”, Mines adds.

The Ultimate Aluminium Window offers a high degree of flexibility making it ideal for contemporary or traditional installations

Sliders UK has also stepped into new territory adding two new aluminium windows to its offer this autumn.  The Ultimate Residential Window is manufactured in ALUK’s Optio system and is primarily aimed at the residential market. The other, its’ own offering, the Ultimate Evolution XT, which offers U-Values as low as 0.85 W/m2K giving it exceptional commercial and specification appeal.

It has also recently launched the Ultimate Rooflite, an aluminium lantern roof based on the BBA accredited UltraRoof system.

“We see some very substantial opportunities, particularly in aluminium but across our portfolio of products”, says Mines.

He continues: “We’re offering a competitively priced high quality and highly accredited product range and underpinning that with a genuine focus on customer service.

“We believe that gives us but most importantly our customers, access to a very strong market proposition across the board.”
