Security is important to homeowners, so the ability to offer a patio door with Secured by Design certification will be a great boost for installers and window fabricators when they are recommending products to their customers. The certificate, awarded by the Association of Chief Police Officers Crime Prevention Initiatives (ACPO CPI), acknowledges that when fitted with sealed units with laminated glass to the outside, the product meets the ‘Police Preferred Specification’.

The accreditation follows a series of security improvements to Sliders UK’s ‘Ultimate’ patio door range. A new six point lock with pincer-action hooks (designed by Winlock), Yale anti-bumping cylinder, an improved security handle (developed with MI Products) and a set of interlock protectors and spring bolts all combine to make the most secure patio door on the market. The security enhancements were developed in partnership with some of the best-known brands in the UK security industry, and Sliders UK worked closely with its partners and the Secured by Design team throughout the product development and testing stages. All components (save for the cylinder) are exclusive to Sliders UK, and played an integral part in passing the tests. In addition, a number of components are the subject of patent applications.
