After 2 years of intense product development Sliders have recently launched a radically new range of PVC-U bi-folding doors that have already garnered wide critical acclaim from installers and homeowners alike.

After 2 years of intense product development Sliders have recently launched a radically new range of PVC-U bi-folding doors that have already garnered wide critical acclaim from installers and homeowners alike. “We’ve only been in full production for a couple of months” commented Director Ian Longbottom, “but already sales of these new bi-folds are flying”.
And it’s no surprise. The new bi-folds combine the aesthetics of PVC with the strength and stability of aluminium to deliver a product that really does provide the installer and consumer with something new and innovative. “Installers are already telling us that these are the best bi-fold doors, by far” said Ian. “With many people deciding to improve their homes rather than move, bi-fold doors are a versatile and flexible solution for homeowners who want to create valuable new space and open plan living. Our customers have reported an increased demand for our patio doors, and these new, stunning bi-folds will give them a further advantage in turning enquiries into sales.”
So what’s so new about these bi-folds?
Massive reduction in threshold height:
Firstly there is the massive reduction in threshold height. Whereas a typical PVC bi-fold will have a threshold height of 144mm or more, the new Sliders bi-fold comes in at just 106mm thanks to the use of an aluminium sub-frame. And if the frame can be sunk into the floor, the threshold can be further reduced to just 66mm (with no loss in weather performance), delivering vastly improved aesthetics for the homeowner.
No “stacking” required:
The new Sliders’ bi-fold also removes the need to create a “stack” of cill, add-on and frame, as the unique aluminum/PVC combination incorporates the track and optional cill projection into the frame platform.
The perfect combination:
The clever blending of aluminium and PVC is also apparent in the sash joints which feature aluminium strengthening posts clad with PVC. These not only stiffen the doors further but also provide location points for the double perimeter weather seals on all the sashes to deliver improved weather performance, making them draught-free and energy-efficient.
As with Sliders patio doors, their bi-folds can match any home and are available in a variety of finishes; two shades of white, standard foils and now a host of other colours. Sliders bi-fold options also include security screws (instead of ball bearings), to external hinges, and a cylinderless lock and handle system to provide a superior level of security for enhanced protection.
