Sliders UK has great products, but that’s not the only thing that makes us a terrific company to do business with – the people behind our doors and windows make a real difference. More than 50 employees work hard every day to make sure that Sliders UK delivers on its promises. Here’s some information about a few of our finest:
Sliders UK was established in 2002 by Ian Longbottom and Mike Spain. We’ve accomplished plenty, and have handpicked a few of our favourite highlights to give you a brief but impressive history of Sliders UK.
Ian Longbottom, Director
Having already accomplished a successful career that spanned 20 years working in sales and marketing within the window and door industry, Ian launched Sliders UK along with Mike Spain in 2002.
His role now encompasses a much wider remit, including management and motivation, as well as directing the sales, marketing, new product development, quality control and finance functions.
Mike Spain, Director
With 22 years of experience in sales and sales management within the windows industry, Mike set up Sliders UK with Ian Longbottom in 2002. Since setting up Sliders UK, Mike maintains a hands-on role, overseeing sales and customer services and assisting with order processing and delivery scheduling.
An integral part of his role involves looking at ways to further improve efficiency and generally making sure that Sliders UK always delivers on its promises.
George Nicholls, Works Director
George started working as a fabricator in the PVCU window and door industry in 1995. Before joining Sliders UK, his career saw him progress from fabricator to line supervisor, and then on to production manager. He was appointed as works manager at Sliders UK when the company first launched, and has played an important role in the company’s success. In recognition of his hard work, Sliders UK awarded George with shares in the company and more recently the role and title of Works Director.
His responsibilities include day-to-day management of the factory and transport staff, assisting with product development, training and staff development, plus developing the production facility and overseeing its expansion.
Steve Mines, Sales and New Business Director
With 25 years of experience in the industry, Steve brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Sliders UK. Before taking up his current role, his career spanned time at Securistyle, Premier Profiles, Arthur Shaws, Sierra Windows, Tower Conservatories and Trocal.
Testament to his sales ability is a very significant achievement – Steve has brought in more than 250 new accounts for Sliders UK. Steve’s commitment to results for Sliders UK has been recognised and Steve has been rewarded with shares within the company and more recently the role and title of New Business Director.
Gillian Eaton, HR & Quality Systems Manager
Before joining Sliders UK, Gillian was an Area Manager for a facility management company, where she was responsible for recruitment, health and safety and human resources. At Sliders UK, Gillian’s role is divided across HR, quality systems and health and safety.
Her day-to-day role involves developing and implementing strategy across HR and quality management, ensuring that suitable policy & procedures are in place and followed by all workers, staff development, performance management, and ensuring that Sliders UK is a safe place to work.
Danny Brady, Accounts Manager
With over 15 years of experience across a range of industries, Danny has an in-depth knowledge of accounts management. At Sliders UK, Danny heads up the accounts team and is responsible for managing the Sage accounts system, purchase and nominal ledgers, credit control, and banking. Other duties include, liaising with the sales team over current orders, dealing with payments and ensuring best practise is followed.
Danny was responsible for the installation and transfer of data to a new finance system for the company and now continuously works on developing the system.
Mark Sherlock, Transport Manager
Having joined Sliders UK as a Fabricator, Mark has worked his way up through various positions to become the company’s Transport Manager. Mark now runs a fleet of 12 vehicles delivering nationwide along with a team of delivery drivers.
Running both the fleet of vehicles and the delivery team requires Mark to manage numerous tasks. He is responsible for planning deliveries, tracking and planning effective routes, ensuring all deliveries are correct and on time and checking the fleet is ready for the next day. He also makes sure all vehicles are kept in a roadworthy condition, the staff are fully trained and the correct health and safety procedures are adhered to.
